Seahawks vs. Cardinals score, results: Kyler Murray steals the spotlight from Russell Wilson in OT win - Sporting News

In a battle of present vs. future, youngster Kyler Murray stole the show from MVP front-runner Russell Wilson as the Cardinals edged the previously unbeaten Seahawks 37-34 in overtime on Sunday night.

The Cardinals (5-2) never led until Zane Gonzalez hit a 48-yard field goal with 15 seconds remaining in OT to give them the victory. The fact Seattle (5-1) never trailed before then was due to another impressive performance by Wilson, who at times looked dominant. Wilson completed 33 of 50 passes (66 percent) for 388 yards and three touchdowns, all to Tyler Lockett, who hauled in 15 catches for 200 yards. After the pair combined for their third score of the night, a 3-yard toe-tap TD to give Seattle a 34-24 lead with 6:44 remaining in regulation, it seemed as if another tight Seahawks win was imminent.

Then Murray stepped in. After an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against the Seahawks on a Gonzalez field goal attempt gave Arizona's offense a first down, Murray completed an 8-yard TD pass to Christian Kirk for the duo's second scoring connection of the night. That made it a three-point game, 34-31, with 2:28 remaining in regulation.

After Arizona used its final timeout, the Cardinals' defense came up huge with a stop on third-and-short, giving the ball back to Murray with 52 seconds on the clock. Murray led another picture-perfect drive to set up a 44-yard field goal from Gonzalez to send the game to OT.

The big killer for Wilson and Seattle was three interceptions by Arizona's defense. The Seahawks got away with the first two after D.K. Metcalf's touchdown-saving tackle on Budda Baker and Quandre Diggs' immediate pick to give the ball back to Seattle in the fourth quarter. But the third time was the charm for Arizona, as rookie linebacker Isaiah Simmons snagged Wilson's pass on third-and-long to give the ball back to Murray at Seattle's 49 with 57 seconds remaining.

From there, Murray was able to get the ball in field goal range for Gonzalez, who missed an attempt to win the game with 2:42 left in OT after a successful kick was nullified by Arizona having to call a timeout to avoid a delay of game penalty. Gonzalez redeemed himself and made the winning kick.

Murray finished the game completing 34 of 48 passes for 360 yards and three TDs, along with 14 carries for 67 yards and a rushing TD. In a game where he was playing second fiddle most of the night to the QB with whom he has often drawn comparisons, he was able to come out on top.

8:49 p.m. — FIELD GOAL, SEAHAWKS.  A 23-yard TD from Wilson to Greg Olsen is taken off the board as Olsen was ruled out of bounds on the review. Jason Myers connects from 41 yards out to give Seattle a 10-0 lead with 6:35 remaining in the first quarter.
