The New York Mets were very diligent about adding depth throughout this offseason, as they not only turned over their 40-man roster, but also signed plenty of MLB veterans to minor league contracts.
With the Opening Day roster all but set in stone, the Mets have now announced a list of non-roster players that have been assigned to the team’s alternate site in Brooklyn. Jacob Resnick reported that this list includes the following:

Players who are on the 40-man roster, who did not make team, will also be at the Mets alternate site in Brooklyn. Here are the players on the 40-man roster that will be starting their year at the alternate site.

Earlier this month, Jeff Passan of ESPN reported that the Triple-A season had been delayed by at least a month, as team’s would once again have alternate training sites amid COVID-19 concerns. By limiting Triple-A players from traveling, MLB has an insurance policy in case there is another COVID outbreak that threatens their season.
Triple-A games were originally scheduled to begin on April 6th, but now won’t be played until May at the earliest. In the meantime, the group of players at Brooklyn will be staying in shape by playing a lot of inter-squad scrimmages, similar to what they did at the alternate site last year during the 2020 season.
