ROSEMONT, Ill. – Six Big Ten volleyball teams were selected to the 2020-21 NCAA Volleyball Tournament on Sunday. All six teams were selected in the top-16 seeds and will automatically advance to the second round beginning April 15. This marks the 28th consecutive season that at least six Big Ten volleyball teams have been selected for the tournament. The Big Ten Conference led all conferences with six teams selected from their league to compete in the championship tournament.

Big Ten Champion Wisconsin enters the tournament as the nation’s No. 1 overall seed. Minnesota earned the No. 3 seed, Nebraska was chosen as the No. 5 seed, Purdue earned the seventh seed, Ohio State is the ninth seed and Penn State received the 13th seed. All six Big Ten programs will begin play in the second round on April 15.

After winning its second consecutive and seventh overall Big Ten title, Wisconsin takes on the winner of Bowling Green and Weber State on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN3. Wisconsin is making its 24th NCAA Tournament appearance.

The third-seeded Gophers make their 25th trip to the NCAA Tournament and will play the winner of Georgia Tech and Lipscomb on Thursday at 7:00 pm on ESPN3.

Fifth-seeded Nebraska will take on the winner of Texas State and Utah Valley on Thursday at 3:30 pm on ESPN3. Nebraska is making its 39th appearance in the Tournament.
 
Seventh-seeded Purdue enters its 22nd NCAA Tournament and will play the winner of UCF and High Point on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN3.
 
No. 9-seed Ohio State returns to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016, making its 23rd appearance overall. The Buckeyes will face the winner of Missouri-South Dakota on Thursday at noon on ESPN3.

Penn State earned the 13th overall seed and enters its 40th NCAA Tournament. The Nittany Lions will face the winner of Rice-N.C. A&T on Thursday at 10:30 pm on ESPN3.

The 48 teams participating in the championship will travel to Omaha, Nebraska, where all rounds of the tournament will be played April 14-24 at the CHI Health Center Omaha Convention Center and Arena, hosted by the University of Nebraska and MECA. First- and second-round matches will be played April 14 and 15, and regional semifinals will be played April 18, at the convention center. Regional finals will take place on April 19 at the arena.
 
The regional winners will advance to the national semifinals and championship final hosted on April 22 and 24 at the CHI Health Center Omaha arena. The national semifinal matches and championship match will broadcast on ESPN2. All matches will be streamed on various ESPN networks.
