Tony Hawk re-creates final doubles run from 1999 X Games - ESPN

Pro skateboarders Tony Hawk and Andy Macdonald are still in sync more than two decades after teaming up to take home the X Games Skateboard Vert Doubles gold (which the two won for six straight years, from 1997 to 2002).

The duo decided to re-create their final doubles run from the 1999 X Games after Hawk posted the clip to his Instagram and was met with positive feedback.

"I saw thousands of comments about remembering the event, and a genuine love for that era of skating. The nostalgia was so strong that we decided to do it again yesterday (22 years later)," Hawk says in his post.

Hawk and Macdonald combined for 39 X Games medals.

Hawk's post comes shortly after he decided to retire the famed ollie 540.

"It was the first of many that I've made over the last 32 years, and my technique improved as time went on," he said in an Instagram post. "But they've gotten scarier in recent years, as the landing commitment can be risky if your feet aren't in the right places. And my willingness to slam unexpectedly into the flat bottom has waned greatly over the last decade."

Hawk retired from competition in 2003 but continues to skate recreationally.
